Volcano Facts

Volcano lava will turn into solid rock if you splash a bucket of cold temperated water on it. Ash is always left after a volcano eruption. Sometimes ash can be 1 and a half inches thick! I think volcanoes erupt because something happens to make a small hole and that hole lets out a ton of steam causing it to explode with lava. Runny lava hardens faster than thick lava. Lava temperature is 700 °C. It is very hot! Lava can travel to far away places before cooling down and hardening. The name volcano comes from the Greek god, Vulcan. He was known to make weapons for the gods.

Famous volcanoes around the world:
1.Mount Vesuvius. Fact: Mount Vesuvius destroyed two towns, which were Pompeii and Herculaneum.
2.Mount Etna. Fact: Mount Etna is the most famous volcano in the world.
